Course Description

This course is available to IBEW 424 members who are eligible for Education Benefits.

Course Objective

This 24-hour course covers some basic skills required in commercial work. Over the 3 days participants will be exposed to hands-on training that starts with bending and install EMT conduit. They will pull and terminate branch circuits for lighting. They will pull and terminate control wires connected to a low-voltage lighting relay panel. These circuits will be energized and checked for function. There is a small classroom portion where we will cover common code applications such as conduit sizing.

 

Equipment Needed: Basic PPE: Boots, safety glasses, long sleeve shirt and pants, hard hat, work gloves. We will provide participants with a basic tool bag with appropriate hand tools and a code book for the classroom portion.
