RE: Tax deduction for skilled trades workers: Take 2 minutes to send a letter to your MP
Greetings:

Skilled trades workers have always had to travel for work, that’s why we’re called a journeyperson. Projects arise, are built, and are completed at different times in different regions across the country and in many of these cases, workers need to travel, sometimes great lengths, in order to go to work.
Right now, the cost to travel for work – mileage, accommodations, food – aren’t tax deductible for skilled trades workers in the construction industry and aren’t always covered by an employer. When costs aren’t covered by an employer, skilled trades workers in the construction industry should receive the same treatment under the Tax Act as the white-collar workers who can claim those same out-of-pocket expenses.
We need your help today; please take 2 minutes to send a letter to your Member of Parliament asking that they support a Skilled Trades Workforce Mobility Tax Deduction.
The IBEW and Canada’s Building Trades Unions need your support to ensure the federal government and opposition parties live up to their campaign promises to introduce and pass legislation that ensures tax fairness for workers in the Building Trades.
